Little is known about this man.

Private C Beard, 3rd Royal Sussex, first appears in Chailey Parish Magazine in August 1918 and then appears continuously until the final published roll call in July 1919.

Beard is a popular Sussex name and with such scant information at this stage it is difficult to be certain as to who C Beard was.  Chailey resident Reg Philpott remembers a Charlie Beard who served with the Royal Sussex Regiment and lived at Noven Farm and this is possibly the C Beard mentioned here.
