Boy John William Pate was a patient at Beechland House.  His entry in Nurse Oliver’s album reads:

He that sitteth on a tin-tack

Shall surely rise again.

Bandboy J Pate

3rd Dragoon Guards.

21.8.17

He shares this page with entries from Sergeant H Hunter of the Coldstream Guards and 10298 Private Ernest J Kelsey of the 22nd Royal Fusiliers.

Little is known of John Pate but he is possibly the same individual whose birth was registered at Brighton in the June quarter of 1903.  This would have made him 14 years old at the time of his entry in Nurse Oliver’s album.
